Irina Rozo is a full time visual artist that lives in the Napa Valley. She pursuses her art exploration in the field of painting as well as the sculptural field. She has spend many years researching these fields and finds such an investigation exhilarating and full of purpose. To Irina Rozo the artist is the catalyst of change and the art object the tool to exert the voice and/or action. The viewer becomes an active participant of the process by the simple act of interacting with the art piece. Buyers, collectors, museums and galleries become avenues of change by housing and exposing the work to the community at large.

Artist's Biography

I was born in Mexico to a family of artist that emigrated from Europe, Russia and Colombia. Because of this history I possess the raw primitiveness of the Indigenous people of the Americas and the subtle refinement of the European people. Art has been the successive fertile legacy that has traveled through the generations to give me purpose. This in itself has been a true gift, and yet, it has been a gift with a double edge sword: in the one hand creativity is a rich bounty. On the other, the darker side: creativity is a wild beast that has to be painstakingly uncovered, carefully tamed and then securely harnessed with utmost discipline in order to survive with integrity in the world. The struggle between these two edges or forces has been the story of my maturation; my becoming a full human being. My work speaks about all of the stories within the story, the stages, and feelings and fears it has taken to get here, and all it is taking to keep on being truly myself every moment.

I spent my childhood in Mexico immersed in the academic study of art , where I was born. My youth centered in New York City where I studied Design and my adulthood in San Francisco where I attended the Art Institute where I received my Bachelor in Fine Arts. I now reside in the inspirational beauty that is Napa, California.
